While the general demand for electricity in advanced economies has been declining or levelling out over the past few years between 2017 and 2020, the demand for electric vehicles is estimated to rise from 11 million vehicles in 2020 to upto 97 million units by the year 2025. Regardless of industrial, commercial and residential electric demand and usage, this rise in electric vehicles is predicted to essentially cause an increase in the demand for electricity back up again at a leaping rate of 38 percent in the USA alone.
Switching to electronic vehicle options requires that the consumer switch from fuel options like petrol, diesel, and even gas to electric charging for their new vehicle. It entails never having to park and wait in long petrol station lines during lowered rate or fuel shortage days, but it also entails having to switch to electric charging, which eventually points to an increased demand for electricity itself. Based on the decision made by a consumer to begin using an electronic vehicle, it is likely that they would be a lot more inclined towards green, renewable options for other factors in their lifestyle, including but not limited to powering not only their homes, but also their vehicles through renewable energy alternatives to regular electricity through the national grid.
Once a consumer decides to invest in an electric powered vehicle, they are likely to make the decision to switch to a solar energy system for their home in an effort to become even more eco-friendly so that they can not only produce their own solar energy for themselves but also charge their vehicles. In reality, numerous solar installation companies have also started to provide the option to consumers like homeowners to install electric vehicle chargers for them. This is proving to be an effective and beneficial add-on for both the company and the consumer, enabling the installation company to make an extra buck and the consumer to power both their homes and their transports.
Alongside the demand for electric vehicles is also an ever-increasing one for an alternative that does not require any electric charging in some options: a vehicle with solar technology presented in a way that the solar cells are integrated into the actual bodywork instead of being integrated through the typical solar car roofs. Needless to say, the vehicle may prove to be costlier than your regular family car, but eventually, a consumer would be spending a lot less in savings on fuel and electric charging in the grand scheme of things when they choose to invest in a solar bodywork vehicle. According to one study by Dr. Peter Harrop, transforming vehicles into ones with solar bodywork is bound to be welcomed into the market through retrofitting the cars with solar wraps – an innovation that first began appearing on the solar front in 2011, but will only be available for commercial use via solar wrapped family cars by 2021.
