When spring rolls around, we know that summers are just around the corner. Summers come with the excitement of swimming pools, ice cream, fruits, and most importantly, holidays.
In the past few years, climate change has caused the span of the summer season to get significantly lengthened. The changes in global and regional climate patterns have affected life patterns all over the world. The number of deaths caused by extreme winters has considerably decreased, and the production of food has greatly increased in some areas of the world. Yet, the overall impact of global warming continues to grow.
Ice glaciers have melted, sea level has risen up, and there are more intense and longer heatwaves due to climate change. About 20 years ago, summers used to have a brief stay. But now that stay has become 7 to 8 months long. Which means that towards the end, this makes summers tedious and tiresome.
Longer and intense summers eventually result in higher electricity bills that too for a large period of the year. Meanwhile, with climate change due to the burning and subsequent depletion of fossil fuel resources, there is an intense need for us all to switch to renewable energy resources and options. This, at the moment, seems to be the only way to save our planet and lower the figures on our electricity bills. According to different researches around the globe, wind and solar will become the cheapest electricity source in the coming years. While wind turbines require a more demanding environment, solar panels are more accessible and less demanding. The plus of the solar electric system is that it is one of the most environmentally-friendly options for electricity generation. This is where EBR Energy and our solar energy electricity and water heating systems come into play. With our residential solar panels system, summers won’t feel as overlong as they used to be.
How does a solar system work?
Solar panels installed by EBR Energy for your home, office, or school consist of photovoltaic solar cells (usually made from silicon). These cells absorb energy from the sun and convert it into DC (Direct Current) output. This current can be used as it is for appliances that work on DC power. Otherwise, an inverter from one of our many loyal solar technology partners is connected to convert DC to AC (Alternating Current). This AC output then flows through home electric wiring systems, giving energy to appliances connected.
Here is the list of our Solar Inverter Partners:
- Schneider Electric
- Sungrow
- Outback Power
- Zigor
- SMA
- Ingeteam
- Huawei
Solar energy systems not only allow you to reduce electricity bills but you can also earn credit by getting your electric system installed with EBR Energy.
Yes, you read that right! You can earn credit simply by installing a solar energy system in your home through net metering.
What is Net Metering?
Net Metering (NM), which is also known as Net Energy Metering (NEM), is a mechanism that allows you to store and send back energy to the national grid where you live.
In simple words, if your energy consumption is less than the energy that is being produced by the solar energy system, you can send surplus energy produced back to the grid in exchange for credits. These credits can be used when your solar panels are under-producing energy (at night or on shorter days in winter).
The amount of energy produced will vary throughout the year. It is a common assumption that in the summers the solar panels produce more energy than in the winters because of more heat. However, energy production does not depend on the amount of heat, rather it depends on the sun rays. Days are longer in summers than in winters, which means sun rays will stay for longer periods of time and hence, the solar panels will produce more energy.
The same is the case with cloudy days. Solar panels produce energy even if clouds are covering the sun. Solar panels do not need full sunshine, per se, to generate electricity as much as they need direct, unobstructed access to the sun’s UV rays, which you can get even on a cloudy day.
Hence, a solar electricity system can convert your home, office, or school into a powerhouse, allowing you to decrease the rate and level of your carbon footprint on the planet. With EBR Energy, you can take all the right steps to convert your building into a powerhouse before the full onset of the heat this summer 2020!
